Autumn Clear Up!

We would love to get our church, both inside and out, looking its best to welcome the candidates coming for interviews. James Symons has kindly volunteered to co-ordinate this and has suggested either Saturday 24th of September or Saturday the 8th of October, from 9.30 am for about an hour.  Unfortunately he is away on other dates, but would be willing to reschedule for a date he is away.

List of Outside Fun is likely to include:

  • Sweep leaves from the valleys between the south aisle and nave roofs, and between the nave and north aisle.
  • Clear leaves and wood from the ditch on the south side (again) and from around the west end of the building.
  • Trim a few bushes in the churchyard in support of the grass cutting done by the council.

Could you let him know if either of those dates are unsuitable for you so he can rally as many people as possible – 07763 906855.

We are also planning to give the inside of the building attention too – on Saturday 15th October, starting at 10 am. List of Inside Fun is likely to include general tidying, as well as polishing silver and brass. Please could you let us know if you are able to assist in this – This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

HEART - Sunday 11th September 4pm - 6pm

Heart 4 Rudloe meets on the second Sunday of the month, between 4pm and 6pm.  Everyone of any age is welcome (children must bring an adult to look after them). The afternoon includes craft, tea drinking and Lego building. This is followed by prayer, a story and songs.  We round off the afternoon with some food (a light meal). This activity is free and is being run as part of the work of the Church of England in Box Parish.  Please do come along and join us as we make, pray and eat in the MOD Corsham Community Centre on Leafy Lane.

The Filling Station on Tuesday 13th September 7.30 pm

We are delighted that our new season will be kicked off by Hellie Brunt. Hellie is based in Cheltenham and works as The Filling Station Regional Consultant, and also supports the Filling Station with leadership development and training for prophecy and prayer.  Alongside this, she works freelance as a speaker, trainer and leadership consultant. She has also been very involved at New Wine conferences in a variety of speaking and venue hosting roles. She previously worked for 12 years as an Associate Pastor at Trinity Church, Cheltenham.  Hellie loves people, watching house renovation programmes and is a prophetic Bible teacher.

The Filling Station is an informal “café style” evening in the Box Methodist church building on Box High Street. Come at 7.15 pm for coffee and cake, to start at 7.30 pm with musical worship, followed by Hellie’s talk and an opportunity for prayer, concluding at about 9.30pm

Harvest Sunday 18th September

The Sisters of the Community of the Church at Bristol have written to us:

Dear Supporters,

Once again it is that time of year when we think of Harvest. As ever, we are so grateful for your loyal support - and even though we are aware that more of us are struggling financially, we ask for your continued help with the following:

Our basic food parcel includes:

  • Tinned: meat, fish, baked beans, soup, vegetables, custard, rice pudding, fruit.
  • Plus: cereals, rice, pasta, tea bags, long-life milk.
  • Toiletries: We offer men’s and women’s toiletries, and nappies (all sizes)

  • Our cafe: we serve coffee/tea and sandwiches, so jars of coffee and bottles of squash are very welcome.
  • Gas and Electric top-ups: We all know that those on pre-pay systems pay the highest tariffs. This also applies to utilities payments. Most weeks we spend up to £300 to help our clients with their electric bills. Any help that you are able to offer towards the items above is, as always, hugely appreciated.
  • Please continue to pray for our work, as we pray with thanksgiving for you.

James will be taking all our contributions to the Sisters on Monday 19th September, probably leaving about 9 am.

Harvest Lunch Sunday 18th September

We will be sharing a Harvest Lunch on Sunday 18th September after the service, We will be having a simple meal, consisting of platters of cheese, patés, breads etc, with apple pie and custard ? Please bring your own drinks, we will provide everything else. There will be a donations box, which we hope will cover the costs of the food. If you are thinking of coming, can you let John & Alison know so they approximate ideas of numbers for catering.
