Note from Robin Parry

Dear Friends of Brenda

One of Bren's many wishes was that her cremated remains be interred in Box Parish Cemetery with a Memorial Tablet "...so that my friends can come and talk to me"

The anniversary of her passing is the 6th November and the Tablet is now in place.

I chat to her about our beautiful life together. You might like to share your memories!

Best wishes

Robin

HEART - Sunday 28th November 4pm - 6pm

Heart 4 Rudloe meets on the second and fourth Sunday of the month, between 4pm and 6pm, and everyone of any age is welcome (children must bring an adult to look after them). The afternoon includes craft, tea drinking and Lego building. This is followed by prayer, a story and songs.  We round off the afternoon with some food (a light meal).

This activity is free, and is being run as part of the work of the Church of England in Box Parish.  Please do come along and join us as we make, pray and eat in the MOD Corsham Community Centre on Leafy Lane.

Lay-led Services

Many of you are aware that prior to the pandemic we had been holding monthly lay led Sunday morning services at St Thomas’ Church in Box since 2015 – thanks to the initial vision and energy of Charles Freeman. A group of 6 lay members of the church took turns to prepare and lead these. During the period of COVID restrictions these have been in abeyance. We would like to explore the possibility of restarting these in February 2022. As a starting point we would like to invite all those that would be interested in contributing to this - both those who have previously done so and those who would be interested in trying this - to a meeting at the vicarage at 7.30 pm on Wednesday 24thNovember.

The purpose of this meeting would be to:

- review experience of previous lay led services

- consider what would be of value in the future

- guidance for lay leaders

- practicalities including starting a rota for 2022.

Please let us know if you would like to attend. If you are interested but can’t attend at this time it would also be helpful to know.

Feel free to discuss what is involved with either of us.

The Community of the Sisters of the Church (Bristol) Christmas Appeal 2021

We would welcome as many of the following items as possible:

  • Gifts for adults (please note we have twice as many men callers as women, so gifts for men are a priority!) for both men and women: gloves, warm scarves, hats and socks, and especially toiletry sets
  • Argos vouchers for children - we are asking either for money donations towards £15 Argos vouchers or the vouchers themselves, so that we can give one per child to all the families that we know are in need, as we have done in previous years.
  • Additional Funding Needs - we welcome all contributions to the funds we use buying in seasonal food that is additional to our basic food parcels.

James Symons has kindly offered to take all our gifts to the Sisters, leaving St Thomas’, Box at 9 am on Monday 6th December.

Notice for the legal formation of the Lidbrook Group into a benefice.

We are required to let you know this. Please read the notice for more information. If you would like an electronic or paper copy of the documents please speak to Janet, the churchwardens, or a member of PCC.

“A Notice giving the objects of proposed pastoral reorganisation affecting this parish has or will be displayed near the main door and on the Church of England website. The Notice includes the last date by which representations regarding the proposed reorganisation may be made to the Church Commissioners.”
