God of glory,

you have broken the chains of death and hell:

fill your Church with faith and hope;

for a new day has dawned

in our Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.

Please pray for those who are ill

We remember those whom we know,

Message from Christian Aid

As more of our family, friends, and neighbours receive their COVID vaccinations, we rejoice and are glad that our loved ones are protected. We give thanks for all the NHS staff and key workers who continue to save lives across the UK.

For the poorest and most vulnerable communities across the world, there is little hope of a vaccine rollout. These people already face a lack of water, food, and healthcare.

Some are homeless. Some are living with underlying health issues such as HIV.

Christian Aid is already on the ground, helping keep people safe from coronavirus with practical support – but with your gift of thanks we can do more.

Have you or your loved ones had your vaccine?

Please give thanks with a donation to help protect our global neighbours while the vaccine is out of reach.

The Great Big Christian Aid Village Walk

A group of us met to discuss Fund raising for Christian Aid this year. It was felt that door to door collections would not be appropriate, so instead we are going to offer people the opportunity to walk the Peacock and Heritage Trails in the local area, as a sponsored walk.

You could try to do all of them, or you try to do just a few or even one, all of them is 55.5 miles.

You can walk them on your own, or join with some of the organised groups who will be walking.

The routes are listed below, if you think you could lead a group of six (between 1st and 16th May) or a larger group during the rest of May, please get in touch with Janet.

We will be following all the COVID guidance that is in place at the time.

We will have a just giving page for each village similar to last year.

The routes are as follows:

These Peacock Trails are essentially day walks

  • Corsham to Colerne Peacock Trail 9.88 miles (Can start at Colerne)
  • Corsham to Box Peacock Trail 9 miles
  • Corsham to Biddestone Peacock Trail 10.3 miles

These Heritage trails and the Corsham Red and Blue trails are shorter

  • Biddestone Heritage Trail 6.6 miles
  • Colerne Heritage Trail 5.7 miles
  • Box Heritage Trail 4.5 miles
  • Corsham Red Trail 5 miles
  • Corsham Blue Trail 4.5 miles

There are leaflets for each walk, which can be downloaded from the Colerne Parish Council website:

https://colerne-pc (colerne-pc.gov.uk)

We will send out a list of dates and times for the organised walks, but you may choose to walk separately but report in to us and that will be lovely.

We are still fine tuning the details and they will be available soon, but especially if you would be happy to lead a group please contact Janet on 744458 or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Sisters of the Community of the Church

The Sisters of the Church have had to close 82 Ashley Road for the time being.  Sister Teresa has recently contracted Covid and is slowly recovering.   They are also very sorry to inform us that one of their key daily volunteers died a short while ago after contracting the disease.  For this reason, they are currently unable to accept any deliveries of food or bedding, although they are managing to make food available to those in need.

All being well, they hope to re-open on Monday 12 April.  There will be no Easter Appeal this year, but if people wish to donate Easter Eggs, they will be happy to accept them after that date so that they can be given out during Eastertide.

Please note that their email address has now changed toThis email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..   Emails are being accessed remotely and will be answered in due course.

The Sisters want to thank you all for your continuing support.

James Symons is planning to take any Easter Eggs donated to the Sisters on 12th April. It would be lovely to be able to spread some Easter cheer!

The Filling Station

The Filling Station will be online again on Tuesday 13th April at 7.30 pm on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/channel/UChTn-HObSzGeyAdDVgF7kGQ   The guest speaker this month will be Rev Richard Fothergill with an Easter-themed talk and encouraging accounts of what The Filling Station network has been doing during the pandemic lockdown.

Local elections

On 6th May registered electors will have the opportunity to vote in parish, unitary (Wiltshire), and police & crime commissioner elections. In advance of this, we are inviting parishioners who meet the criteria to consider standing as a Parish Councillor in the Box and Rudloe Wards.

We welcome enthusiastic people of all ages, backgrounds and experiences who would like to represent our Parish and contribute to the community.

All of our councillors will be happy to talk to you about the role, or get in touch with our clerk.  Details are on our website https://www.boxparishcouncil.gov.uk/  or telephone 01225 742356 or email at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
