We remember those whom we know,

who are suffering in sickness or adversity,

and those who especially need our prayers at this time.

Also the families of those who have died

Please note that the 6 pm Carol Service is going to be 22nd December, not 15th December.

Canterbury Pilgrimage - 26th-30th May 2020

In recognition of our patronal saint Thomas Becket; Clair and Janet are planning to walk from London to Canterbury on pilgrimage. We will mainly be sticking to footpaths and hoping to walk about 10-12 miles a day Tuesday to Saturday. We will have a back up minibus. If you would like to come along on the pilgrimage please let Janet know as soon as possible so we can get plans together.

Christingle Service on 8th December

If you have a Children’s Society collecting box from last year’s Christingle Service, please bring it to this year’s service or hand it in to Janet or at the Vicarage. If you would like a box, they will be on the table at the back of St Thomas’.

CHRISTMAS @ HEART

Sunday 8th December  4pm - 6pm

Heart 4 Rudloe meets on the second and fourth Sunday of the month, between 4pm and 6pm, and everyone of any age is welcome (children must bring an adult to look after them). The afternoon includes craft, tea drinking and Lego building. This is followed by prayer, story and songs.  We round off the afternoon with some food (a light meal).

This activity is free, and is being run as part of the work of the Church of England in Box Parish.  Please do come along and join us as we make, pray and eat in the MOD Corsham Community  Centre on Leafy Lane.

The Filling Station on Tuesday 10th December

What does Christmas mean to you? Come along and hear what Christmas means to others.

The Filling Station is an informal “café style” evening in the Box Methodist church building on Box High Street. Coffee and cakes are served from 7pm and the service starts with musical worship from 7.30pm, followed by David’s talk and an opportunity for prayer, concluding at about 9.30pm

Sisters of the Community of the Church

Christmas Appeal - Last Chance!

This year the Sisters will be buying all special Christmas foodstuffs themselves, so they are asking us not to donate them, instead they would like:

Gifts for adults, in particular for men (they have 4 times more men than ladies): gloves, warm scarves, hats, socks and especially toiletry sets; and Argos vouchers for children.

James will drop off donated items to the Sisters on 2nd December.

Carol Service 22nd December

Once again, we will be gathering together a group of singers for our annual Christmas Carol Service at St Thomas’ Church in Box at 6pm on Sunday 22nd December. We will rehearse weekly on Tuesday evenings

7-8pm in the church. Please come if you would like - it doesn’t matter that you missed the first rehearsal! There will also be a rehearsal on the day of the Carol Service at 4.30pm.

If  you would like to sing with us, please contact Andrew Clark 01225 742128

TOAST on Sunday 8th December

A fun youth group that meets in St Thomas à Becket every two weeks usually, between 6pm and 7.30pm.  Toast is a group for Year 6 and above.  We enjoy creatively exploring the Christian faith and eating

plenty of food to keep us going!  Please contact a  member of Clergy, one of the leaders, or just come along to find out more.

Our leaders at TOAST are:

Rev Clair Southgate               Tel: 01225 743970

Candle Rigging 14th December

I  propose to have a working party at 9.30am on Sat 14th December to tackle the task of decorating the church with candles in readiness for Christmas. Any and all help will be hugely appreciated as usual. If there is any likelihood of you being available to lend a hand may I ask you to scribble a note in your diary? Very many thanks. Charles
