Calling all stitchers -help needed! We have a number of spare kneelers and we are planning to convert at least some of these into pew cushions. If you think you could help (no expertise required!), come to a meeting in church on Wednesday 11th January at 11.30am. Coffee and biscuits provided. Auction of Promises on Saturday 28 January 2012. To be held in the Selwyn Hall. For this event, we need PROMISES! Can you offer to do something - make something - donate something? Our vicar has promised a cake of stunning proportions and we have more offers coming in but we need a lot more. Thanks. Freddy Connolly.
Review of Sermons on Prayer Alice and Clair are asking for some feedback about the sermon series on prayer that ran at St Thomas à Becket from September to December 2011. The series was an idea that came up on the Parish Away Day. The series consisted of sermons and discussions at the five morning worshipservices, the three advent events and a book swap in church. Before we think about planning another series we would like to get an idea of how successful it was and how we might improve it. Please could you answer the questions below and return them to Alice by e-mail to: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or speak to either Alice or Clair. It would be helpful to have your response by 10th January:
1. How many of the sermons did you hear? 2. Did you find them helpful? 3. Did you borrow any books from the book swap? 4. Do you have any suggestions as to how we might do things differently in the next series?
Prayers Praying before the service on Sunday morning is not working out quite as we hoped. If you would like to go back to praying for the church and the world on a Saturday morning or another time please can you let a member of the Clergy know. It is important we spend time praying. Please let us know your ideas about how we can do this best for you.
Friday mornings? Are you free? We wanted to have a trial, meeting in various coffee shops on a Friday morning, with one or two people definitely being there but an open invitation for all to join. This would be a development from the “Frothy Coffee” group and would be a social group. If you feel you could be involved please let Alice, Clair or Janet know. What is holding this back is that we need someone to co-ordinate a rota; this person may not be one of the people who drinks tea and coffee...
Reminder: Men’s Group The next Men’s Group is on Friday 13th January from 8-10pm in the Vicarage.
Keep the Date—Saturday 17th March 2012 We will be having a “Group Away Day” where we will have some time together and some sessions as church groups, thinking about the church and reviewing the growth plans. Please put this your diary now. ALL WELCOME.
