The Collect

Almighty God,

and by following in his Way
come to share in his glory;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Please remember in your prayers those who are ill:

Margot Daymond and her family as they care for her.

Annual Church Meeting

This will be taking place on Wednesday 21st April 2010 at 7.30pm in St Thomas à Becket church. It is very important to put this date in your diary and make sure you attend to find out what the PCC are planning for the year ahead. If you are not on the Electoral Roll (see below) you will not be entitled to vote on any of the issues raised so please make sure you have registered on the roll and can then have your say!

Electoral Roll

The Electoral Roll for our parish church is shortly to be revised. You are reminded that only those whose names appear on the Electoral Roll are eligible for voting at the Annual Meeting and for membership of the Parochial Church Council.

If your name has not been included you may obtain application forms from the table at the entrance of the church. When completed they should be returned to Catherine Hewes) or left in the church in the pigeon hole for ‘H’.

In order that you may be included in the new list from April 2010 please ensure forms are returned by 12th March at the latest. If you have previously been included on the list and wish to withdraw please let me know as soon as possible (or contact any of the church officers listed in the front of the magazine).

Easter Lilies

It is time once again to remind everyone of the custom in our parish at Eastertide when donations are welcomed in memory of departed loved ones. The money received is then used to purchase lilies for our flower arrangers to decorate the church at Easter. Donations may be passed to either Brenda Parry or Mrs Ann Baugh; if possible before March 24th 2010 please.

The Return of ‘The Box Files’

After the success of the Advent Lectures we are having two more in Lent, same place, different time.

Feb 28th 6pm at St Thomas à Becket church, Janet will speak on ‘The Turin Shroud’. Come and hear what the views have been over the centuries and what different people think now.

March 28th 6pm at St Thomas à Becket church Revd

Andy Gubbins, the new deanery missioner, will speak on ‘Cracking the Da Vinci Code’.

Choir rehearsals for Easter

The choir will be singing on Easter Sunday (4th April) and optionally on Maundy Thursday (1st April). Rehearsals for these dates will begin on Thursday 25th February in the church from 7-8pm for 5 weeks (before Thursday Night live). There will be one last rehearsal on Wednesday 31st March at the same time and place. All are welcome to join in. For more information contact Andrew Clark or Alice Kemp or just turn up.

Easter Egg Donations

At Easter the Community of the Sisters of the Church in St Pauls distribute Easter Eggs to the children of the homeless and needy. The Easter Eggs are kindly donated by us and other parishes. Because the Sisters need the eggs before Palm Sunday (March 28th) it is planned to deliver our contribution on Wednesday 24th. Could we therefore please have your offerings by Sunday 21st March. Many thanks

Holiday Club

Sunday Stars are thinking of running a week long holiday club during the summer school holidays for Sunday Stars aged children (probably the last week of the holidays). We would base this on this year’s Scripture Union holiday club material, “Rocky’s Plaice” and it would be for 4 or 5 mornings. If this is to happen, we will need lots of help, energy and prayers! If you think you would be interested in helping in any way, or know of someone may be interested in helping, please come along to a meeting in The Vicarage on Monday 15th March at 8pm – or speak to Ian.

Thursday Night Live

The third of these sessions will take place on Thursday 4th March at 8.15pm in the church. Please come along and join us for this.
