News & Events!
New News Sheets
From September the news sheets will be going back to a weekly format which will include news, notices and items for prayer or reflection throughout the week. These will be given out in the Sunday services, emailed around the database and available on our website. This will be coordinated by Clair Southgate (church warden). It is essential that you forward details of any events or news to Clair by Thursday morning of each week for inclusion.
Ride and Stride - Wiltshire Historic Churches Trust
Wiltshire Historic Churches Trust 'Ride and Stride' sponsored walk and cycle ride on Saturday 13th September. If you would like to take part there are further details and sponsor forms in church. St Thomas' will be open all day and we would like to welcome visiting walkers or cyclists as they pass through. If you would be able to help man the church for an hour or so between 10am and 6pm on the day please sign up on the board in church. All proceeds to be split between the Wiltshire church of your choice and the Wiltshire Historic Churches Trust.
Janet writes... “On 20th September the PCC of St Thomas’ are going on a ‘PCC away day’. Reports have started flowing back to Janet that this thing, or the other thing, will be sorted out on the PCC away day. There are some myths about this day (well only 10 am – 4 pm) which Janet would like to dispel. The away day is not going to ‘save the planet’ it is not going to solve the problems of world peace and justice, it is not going to be a group of power crazed individuals destroying the church or acting on a whim from the day. So what are we going to do? We are going to read the bible, pray, discuss and plan. We hope that we will take some small steps towards producing our growth plan. The away day is a time to reflect and to see how we should be tending the garden of our parish, a little pruning, some seeds to sow, perhaps agreeing a few experiments, all in the pursuit of what our Bishops’ like to call, ‘growing communities of wholeness with Christ at the centre’. So how can you have your say? What would you like to see the church do and be? What are the good things we should carry on doing, and what are the things we should stop doing? What do you think is important? We are welcoming any response to these questions and any comments which you might have. Throughout the whole of August there will be a box in St Thomas’ church on the table near the back door, and another one in the Post Office, where you can leave your suggestions. Anonymous suggestions are welcome, but do leave contact details if you are happy for someone to contact you and ask you more details about your comment. We are interested in what you have to say whether you come to church or not.”
